How do you get your child to enjoy bath time?

Fun time
I make everything fun for her. She never cries when it's bath time. She loves to play with the bubbles and to splash them around. It's very exciting for her. She doesn't have toys with her. I sing to her as well. -
Maureen Nagle, mother of a 21-month toddler

Keep it short
We use toys. I think it's up to the individual child. If they hate water, they hate water, but I think my boy doesn't hate water so much. There is something to distract him – his toys or his bath books. Actually he doesn't want to read the books. He just wants to use the books to make the water splash. And we usually keep his bath short; we don't bathe him for too long. If he's grumpy we cut short his bath time and if he's really grumpy I don't even bathe him. Actually I hardly bathe him because I have this fear of bathing him. So I just wait for my husband to come back to bathe him. It's their special time together. - Chong See Ming, mother of a 20-month-old boy

Bath books and toys
When Zahrah was younger we used the bath books and the little toys – a hippo and a duck. Bubbles too but that is also for outside bath time. But bubbles is almost a compulsory item to have all the time. The girls have their separate bath time. Now the maid handles bath time. Zahrah is bigger now and she's happy to bathe with her bigger cousins but she doesn't want to bathe or play with her younger sister. - Maznita Mokhtar, mother of two girls aged one and three years old
