Running time: 43 minutes
This stop-motion animation is about Shaun, a sheep in the farmer's flock, who often gets into all sorts of adventures with his friends. And, at other times has to help the sheepdog Bitzer maintain the peace on the farm.
If Shaun looks familiar it's because he made his first appearance in Wallace & Gromit's A Close Shave short feature film.
There are six clips in this DVD – each one about seven minutes long.
There is no dialogue but there isn't a need for it, seeing as the storylines and antics of the farm animals are hilarious as they behave like humans and even at times stand on their hind legs!
This DVD has the following episodes:
Off the Baa – When a cabbage bounces into the field, Shaun decides to use it as a football. Really funny watching the sheep play football – red card, penalty kick included!
Fetching – Bitzer falls for a picnicking female sheepdog and is distracted. The sheep get into the farmer's house. It's up to Shaun to get Bitzer back on track and clean up everything before the farmer returns.
The Kite – Shaun tries to catch a kite that has found its way into the farm.
Shape up with Shaun – One of the funnier clips as Shaun and the other sheep try to get the overweight Shirley, also a sheep, back into shape.
Camping Chaos – An unfriendly camper sets up camp nearby. The sheep explore all the things inside his camp and ultimately teach him a lesson.
Save the Tree – Shaun and the other sheep try to save their favourite tree from being chopped down by the farmer.
I have to say this is one of those DVDs that the whole family can watch and enjoy together. I found Off the Baa the funniest but maybe because being a football fan it appealed to me. Coming in at a close second is Shape up with Shaun – have you ever seen sheep exercise?
This is a good and fun watch. My only complaint would be that it was way too short. Apparently, this TV series has a few DVDs out although I've only seen this one in the shops. Hopefully, the other DVDs will also make their way here because Shaun the Sheep is truly funny and harmless and it'll have you and your kids giggling all through. - Review by S.N.
