Handy Manny is a favourite with many kids and parents, too. It's hard to not like a show that has singing tools, which teaches good lessons and a bit of Spanish, too.
In fact, truth be told, I don't seem to tire of hearing or singing along to the song – uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco ….
This 65 minute DVD is themed movies, theatre, shows and talent. It features six 11-minute episodes.
In Movie Night, Squeeze, Felipe and Dusty all want to go for different movies. Manny finds a way for the tools to decide which movie to watch – by putting it to a vote. Squeeze's movie wins and the tools and Manny go for the movie. But, there's a problem with the film projector and it's up to Manny and the tools to fix it. While Manny and Kelly go search for the part needed, it's up to the tools to entertain the audience.
Next up is Rusty's Little Light Lie where the mayor gets Manny and the tools to change all the bulbs in the soon-to-be opened Sheet Rock Hills movie theatre. While getting the bulbs from Kelly's shop, Rusty is careless and bumps the whole box of bulbs into the wall. The bulbs are all broken. Manny and the tools must find more bulbs and Rusty learns the lesson of owning up to his carelessness and telling the truth.
In Talent Show, everyone in town is excited about showing off their talents. When the tools, Manny and Mr Lopart head over to the auditorium to practise with the piano, Miss Hillary tells them the piano is out of tune even though she just tuned it recently. While Manny is no piano tuner he does get to the source of the problem.
In Danny Starr, Dusty is star-struck at the sight of a popular singer who is in town for a concert. While trying to help Danny find his guitar pick, Pat falls on his guitar, breaking it in two! Manny gets a chance to shine when Danny asks him to accompany him by playing his vihuela (a sort of Spanish guitar).
Elliot's New Job is about Kelly's brother Elliot who finds he needs help at the video rental shop as the videos are all not in proper order and the popcorn machine is spoilt. Manny and the tools help fix the machine as well as organise the videos and help with the customers.
Singing Salon sees Manny and the tools helping to fix Aurelia's record player. She can't sing without it and if she can't sing she can't do her clients' hair.
Loved it. Can watch it again and again. Haven't met a kid who didn't and doesn't like Handy Manny, yet. This will go down well with the kids and keep them singing and hopping along for at least an hour. Recommended. - Review by S.N.
