FEMINISTS who have been critical of the stereotypical images that Barbie dolls have been portraying to young and impressionable kids might be more willing to change their minds now.
Enter a fighting Barbie by the name of Corrine (Sheridan). The world-famous Mattel doll aspires to be a musketeer.
Up until now, only her barn-house pals - a pig, a cow, a horse and a cat - believe that she can do it. Oh, and of course, there is Corrine's mum.
In order to fulfil her dreams, Barbie sets off for France to meet her hero musketeers.
But the less than enthusiastic response she gets from them - all because she is a woman - is not what Corrine had expected.
But fate has its uncanny way of making things right when Corrine's cat inadvertently leads her into a castle.
It is here that she suddenly realises that her dreams may just come true after all.
The storyline for this video is amazingly down-to-earth. Director William Lau deserves special mention for keeping this video lively and entertaining all the way. A lovely story with a powerful message.
The DVD comes with delightful bloopers and trailers of other Barbie movies. There is also a special music video on the theme song, All For One.
Subtitles for the deaf and hearing impaired are also available. - Review by ANTHONY THANASAYAN
